About our podcast: Build Your Saas
In 2004, 37signals started an indie SaaS revolution when they launched Basecamp and Ruby on Rails.
Since then, thousands of entrepreneurs, developers, designers, and product people have tried to capture some of that success by launching their own web apps.
But now, there is way more competition, and many categories have become saturated.

Why did we start a podcast when we started building our company?
Jon and Justin started the Build your SaaS podcast right after they agreed to build Transistor together. They wanted to have a record of their journey building the company: from zero customers to earning their first revenue dollars.
They found that podcasting every week had several benefits:
- It forced them to have a regular "co-founder phone call."
- By "building in public" and sharing their story, many fans started supporting Transistor through advice, connections and becoming customers.
- Talking about issues out loud helped them solve problems, discover new insights, and form strategies.
- Sharing their journey was a way of giving back to the bootstrapper/startup community that had shared so much information with Jon and Justin.
